Hot News for the World of Cool Kids Apparel- Little Ruler and Knuckleheads Team Up!

Founded in 2004, Little Ruler has been officially licensing children’s clothing for some of skateboarding’s most popular brands- Independent Truck Co. Santa Cruz, Creature, Nor Cal Clothing. Also founded in 2004, Knuckleheads has been producing their own line of edgy, skate and music-inspired clothing for the children’s boutiques. The sublicensing partnership between Little Ruler LLC and Knuckleheads will enable the brands to grow both the line size and worldwide distribution.

“Knucklehead’s creative team will take Little Ruler’s licensed brands to the next level by creating a more complete apparel line that includes wovens, printables, headwear and accessories”, says Maureen Kendall, Little Ruler CEO & Owner.

The debut line is currently booking now for a Spring 2012 delivery., anticipate lots of new designs, colors and garments for Little Ruler’s licensed brands.

Knuckleheads is manufacturing most of the Little Ruler here, in the US, without sacrificing cost, quality and ship windows.

My girls begged for feathers in their hair for their birthdays. Not sure if Steven Tyler is the blame for the trend of feathers in the hair.......but my girls are obsessed, even Ruby who has to do everything her sisters do. Funny how she picked out the boldest brightest ones. Brooklyn didn't want to take the time for a photo, her's is a cool yellow and brown combo- very pretty in brunette hair.

When Trent and I were in the Netherlands last month, we visited the cutest town called "Valkenburg" (Valkenburg is in South Holland). This town was charming and very historic- it was the last hold of the Nazi's in WW II.

The town which was built in Roman times was built in local marlstone- which was mined in an underground quarrying.

The mining of the stone had left a series of caves - the Gemeentegrot (Municipal Cave), which was used as a bomb shelter during the Second World War; the Fluweelen Caves; and the Panorama Cave, with an exhibition illustrating the origins and development of man.

Trent and I got to tour the caves- which was dark and very cold inside. During the the end of WWII the last city that the Nazi's held was Valkenburg- so when the US soldiers came to push the Nazi's out, the citizens took to the caves to hide.

They stayed in there for a week or so and when they came out the war was over and the US soldiers were there. Some of the soldiers went in to the caves and a local man gave them tours and painted their silhouettes in the caves and let them sign on the walls.

It was pretty cool to come to that spot on the tour and see the names on the walls- Bob from Texas, Sam from California. And know that those American soldiers freed Holland/Europe from the Nazi's, it was a really proud moment for us to see and gave us serious goose bumps.

I really appreciated on this trip from not only a fun vaca, but to see the history. We studied the war from a book at school- and stories my grandma told us when she lived through the war in Holland, but to actually see the cities and walk the streets where the history actually took place was very humbling to us both and we are super grateful that we were able to take this trip and very grateful to the soldiers who fought for this beautiful country.

Here are some of my favorite pics in this beautiful town- which is probably my favorite city in Holland. The Castle in the pics was built in Roman times and is now partially standing. Touring the ruined castle was pretty awesome, and also there was a zip line, and alpine slides running down the mountain- so we totally did that- it was pretty awesome.

And we even ate in a little cafe inside the caves with purple lights- totally awesome! And some random marching bands came through the city, very picturesque and amazing. This was my favorite day on the trip.

Last tradeshow of the year

We did it, we finished our last tradeshow of the year! I brought my 11 yr old, my friend Jen and her son to NYC for this show and did we ever have a blast. I will follow up with some awesome pics soon, for now I gotta get organized and work on my TO-DO-LIST that is a mile long.
Glad to be home, glad to have the season over. Whewwwwww

Day 2 with an iphone

So, the journey continues to Delft.

The city dates from the 13th century and the architecture was stunning!

One question that I always had about the dutch was answered in this little town; Have you ever wondered why in the Olympics or as seen recently in the World Cup that the Netherlands teams wear Orange? It never made sense to be because the flag colors are red/white/blue. The answer was found in the Nieiwe Kerk on the Tomb of William;

The association of the House of Orange with Delft began when William of Orange(Willem van Oranje), nicknamed William the Silent (Willem de Zwijger), took up residence in 1572. William was the leader at the time in the struggle against the Spanish, the Eighty Years' War.

Delft was one of the leading cities of Holland and was equipped with the necessary city walls to serve as a headquarters. When William was shot to death in 1584 by Balthazar Gerards in the hall of the Prinsenhof, the family's traditional burial place in Bredawas in the hands of the Spanish. Therefore, he was buried in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), starting a tradition for the House of Orange that has continued to the present day.

This particular day in Delft was rainy, but we were determined to not let the gloomy weather get us down. We bought cheap umbrella's and carried on. I was the tour guide since had been been to Holland before, and I proceeded to tell Trent that you can go up the 30 story tower of the New Church. Although I have never gone in it, because the I am seriously afraid of heights and also extremely claustrophobic.

Trent got seriously excited at the news and begged me to go with him, the next thing you know we are buying our tickets.

Let me tell you now that I realized about 10 stories up just how out-of-shape I really am. I am huffing and puffing, occasionally swearing and begging for a way down. Not only are the stairs thin, rundown and steep, but the stair well winds up in a circle and is very very narrow. Not exactly the best situation for a wimpy dork like me. Trent was trying to coach me on, "hurry the elderly couple behind us is gaining speed, don't let them pass us!" With the occasional push on my rear we finally made it to the top.

The view was pretty amazing and yes, it was totally worth it.

Now, that we made it to the top- we still had to come down. So skillfully and very carefully I finally made it down safe and sound.

Later that day- we found a parking ticket on the window, unfortunately the parking tickets are pretty spendy, we are expecting our $100 bill to come in the mail any day now. Nice

Last stop Scheveningen {Don't even try to pronounce it} There is evidence of the name Scheveningen being used during World War II to identify German spies: They would pronounce the initial "Sch" differently from Dutch native speakers.

It was pretty windy while we were here, so we didn't get to stay long- this would be a beautiful place to come in the summer. Scheveningen is a modern seaside resort with a long sandy beach, an esplanade, a pier, and a lighthouse. The beach is popular for water sports such as windsurfing and kiteboarding. We heard there is a nudist section to the north.......

My genealogy runs through this city, many relatives lived here once. Although we didn't see any family on this trip, I thought about my ancestry the entire time.

6 day journey with an iphone

Trent and I are back home and getting re-settled after the whirlwind of our trip to the Netherlands and Belgium. I decided to leave my bulk of a camera at home, so here is our journey documented with my little iphone, and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome!

FYI- We joked that we will make a slide show of our trip to show our family, and bore them with our adventures, but the pics turned out so cool that we will bore you all with our trip pics, it might take a fews days worth of posts...so stay with me and enjoy!

The journey started in first class, which is an experience on its own...especially on an 11 hr flight. The food was amazing and the only time in our lives when we watched 4 movies in a row. (we were both too excited to sleep on the airplane).

Day 1 first stop- Zaanse Schans

One of the highlights in this town is that we got to tour a real working windmill. We walked in paid our 2 euros and waited for the tour, but the tour never started. So we asked the lady and she says, "Oh just go in and walk around". We were a little surprised because we basically had freedom to go where ever, climb and touch whatever with no ropes or boundries. So, we climbed up steep ladders- opened doors and walked out on rickety balcony's and ducked under the arms of the windmill.

It was raining outside this day so we hung out a bit longer in the windmill and enjoyed the view.

Day 1- Haarlem, Holland

Corrie Ten Boom house-

Did you read the book, "The Hidding Place". Well, if you did then you know all about this place. This is the house the the author Corrie lived in during world war II. She was the only woman head of the resistance- (the dutch underground that helped jewish families and men in hiding from the Nazi's).

It was an amazing tour- the guide sat us down in the parlor of the 500 yr old house and told us the whole story of "The Hidding Place" and then we got to see the room that had the false wall where the jews hid. Trent and I both love history and especially history that involved my own family. My grandparents lived through the war in Holland and so seeing this house really hit home for me and made the stories even more alive. Outside the buildings you can still see bullet holes from where Nazi's lined up jews and shot them in the streets.......

Our favorite drink is called Cassis- I wish they had it here, it is a black current flavor and is the best soda ever........and I had at least 2-3 a day.

Our awesome tiny rental car- All the cars are super tiny, and this was a far stretch from the SUV that we drive.

...that I am backpacking through Europe! I've always wanted to say that! Doesn't it sound so awesome?

Technically our backpacks are also roller bags- but they do have straps to carry on your back so I say it counts as "back packing through Europe", it sounds so much cooler.

Hubby and I are heading off to the land of my heritage- Holland and to the city of chocolate- Brugge, Belgium. Doesn't the city of chocolate sound amazing? Hubby might have to roll me out of that town.........(ahem)

We have the trip mapped out down to where we want to eat in each city (from Indonesian food to poffertjes) and how we will get everywhere, on train and hopefully bicycle.

Don't believe that we are just going for fun- although I am sure it will be fun. We are going there for work too- We have some meetings with stores in Holland and there is a trade show over the boarder in Germany.

During our time away, we have enlisted the help of grandparents and have an A team and a B team taking shifts to help get the kids to and fro. Please pray for them- they will need it..... Ruby just "gave up her binky's to the binky fairy" 2 days ago and is still struggling with the departure. HA HA

Oh and this trip wouldn't be possible if it wern't for my awesome baby bro (who works for Delta) and scored us these First Class tickets! Yeah- baby we travel in style and give credit where credit is due.

......."Punky Brewster's" daughters are wearing Hula Mula. I kid you not, my girls are totally obsessed with Punky Brewster re-runs. They watch the DVD over and over again.

So, I was so excited to show them these pics in the new Baby Couture magazine out now. The girls were a little disappointed that Punky is no longer punky, but they were still impressed.

Also, in the same issue is Kourney Kardashion with her son Mason wearing our Greaser Jeans, he is a darling little chunky monkey and his thighs barely fit inside the jeans.

(June 17, 2010) -- Vancouver, WA based clothing company Hula Mula, (sister company to the all boys line Knuckleheads) announces the debut of their tween line. The fashionable all girls line now includes youth sizes; 10, 12, and 14.

“We are thrilled to add the new sizes, it’s been a in the works for a while now”, says owner and designer Melissa Nash. “We have two tweens in our home and it was because of their persistence and creative style that we added the new sizes”. Both of the Nash daughters were involved in the new Hula Mula Spring 11 line which includes some vintage inspired pieces and comfy knits.

“The stand out piece for my girls is the tight fitting stretch “girlie greaser jeans”, these are comfortable and stylish, and I can’t get them off of them. Also, anything with cherries is always a fav with my girls.” says Nash. Both Knuckleheads and Hula Mula are known for their striped knits so you will see a lot of fun stripes in the spring collection.

Don’t just think the designs are for tweens only. Hula Mula has a great line for infants, toddlers and little girls too. The line uses the same patterns and fabrics across all sizes, but you will see additional styles just for the babies and little girls.

The Hula Mula line was introduced in 08 after Knuckleheads fans continued to request a girls line using some of the same vintage styles and with an urban edge. With the help of her three daughters, owner and designer Melissa Nash got to work and created the first season of HM in Fall 08.

Greaser girls are in!

This cute little picture appeared in my inbox this morning from Here. Isn't she so cute in her grease monkey coveralls? They are just as cute on girls as they are on boys, my girls do love wearing theirs too.

Anyhow, I am gearing up to head to Atlanta on Wednesday to the Alt gift show, the show is 5 days long and I am bringing along my 2nd born child to hang with me and her cousins while I am working the booth.

This will be our first official gift show, we added a new gift line and the line debuts at the show, and we are excited about it and so are the reviews are good so far! More hats hats and hats!

Did you know that the Knuckleheads brand is represented at over 30-40 tradeshows per season? Doesn't that sound insane? I was interviewed this morning for an article in a local magazine and when I spouted off these facts, I realized how insane it does sound. Keep in mind that I do NOT personally attend this many shows- we have reps all over the country and worldwide who show the line for us (thank goodness).

After the Atlanta show we have a show in Las Vegas, and then New York. So just three for me personally this time. I do love to travel and I *almost* wish I had more shows to go to this season. bwaaa!

I committed to shooting most of the KH & HM spring catalog, but I think I got in over my head a bit. I totally forgot how much work it is and how many pieces we actually have. Not only that, but we had 10 straight days of rain, making it almost impossible to shoot outdoors.

We made due and chased the rain away and had an open window to get good some adorable pics of Otto and his bff . These two are trouble when they are together and we got into the rhythm and the boys busted out their best moves.

I can't wait to show off more, this line is gonna be so awesome!

Busy bees

Spring 2011 is almost done! We are finishing the last details, photographing and getting ready for the first trade shows in July. The weather has been a little funky around here, after 10 straight days of rain, it is getting a little old......especially when you are trying to photograph outside. Just not happening, and so frustrating.

June is our relaxing month, the calm before the storm. We are done shipping Spring 2010 and our fall 2010 line arrives in July, so have some time for Spring cleaning and home improvements and school gets out in a few weeks. So, I will actually have time with the kids at home with some down time which equals pool time (if the sun ever decides to come back).

In the meantime, here are some sneak peaks for what I did shoot a few weeks ago.

2010 Fall production order is in! Whew, we were working like crazy last week to get those last minute orders in. Like always, we still have those straggling orders that come in late....so yes we did order a little overstock, but once it is gone, it is gone.

My house is sugared up! Supped up on so much sugar right now it is insane. Darn you Easter bunny!

This morning I decided that I would rather all the candy be gone at once, instead of letting it drag out all week, I was hoping it would all be gone by now.

So, kids are hanging from the ceiling, paper airplanes are flying by my head as I type. And one 2yr old is bouncing and screaming on the table. Ummm, yeah I am regretting the free for all on the sugar.

Yep, that is me. I am a purist. Purist in style.

I think it is a CRIME when quality vintage is destroyed. I am ok with re-finishing, cleaning, updating and resurfacing as long as the original is still in place.
With that being said, I would move to timbucktoo just to live in this amazing time capsule of a house (if it were still for sale). And I pray that the person who bought this home (my dream house) has the appreciation and sense to leave it in its original condition and if they so much as attempt to change out those green counter tops or the try to get rid of the pink bathroom, they will be haunted by the ghosts of the original owners. (he he)
My body physically hurts just looking at the images and I start feeling urges of jealousy and anger. I want this house so much it is painful and it completes me at the same time.

While we were away (in NY for a trade show) Lily lost a tooth. She decided that she wanted to wait to show it to us instead of putting it under her pillow for the tooth fairy. So, she put it in a tiny box on a shelf above her bed.

Little did Lily know, that Ruby and Otto had been watching her and saw where she put that tooth.

Some time later Otto announced that the tooth was gone and Ruby ate it.

Yep, Ruby swallowed Lily's tooth.

I am totally grossed out, and Lily is very upset.

Lily wrote a letter to the tooth fairy, "My sister ate my tooth, I hope you will still leave me some money".

Grandpa suggested that we leave Ruby under her pillow...........

My sweet Ruby took scissors and cut her own hair. She proudly announced to daddy, "Look! I cut my hair", with a happy smile, then proceeded to show us where she stashed the scissors.

Each of my girls have taken this right of passage. Each one has cut their own hair. Brooklyn cut hers when she was the same age, and announced that she would give her hair to grandpa, who was bald and had none.

Lily had beautiful blonde ringlets that hung down her back. She gave herself a mullet. A real mullet, short bangs with short sides and a long strip in the back.

With Brooklyn, I laughed........how could you not? With Lily, I cried.....how could you not? And with Ruby, I shrugged my shoulders and accepted this right of passage....how could I not?

We are back from Vegas, from our first trade show of the season. It was a successful event and we feel rejuvinized getting back out there, selling our brand and catching up with our friends.

Oh and I did some personal shopping as well..... writing orders from other brands for my kiddos, gotta represent my friends brands too right?

I have about 200 emails in my inbox, so I will sit on my butt, on my couch, with my snuggy until it is done! Have a wonderful weekend!

Procrastination= food

NOTE: do not read this post on an empty stomach

So, I am totally procrastinating today. My plate is full and I don't care.

I should be working on a press release for our new non-profit foundation, adding new inventory to our web site (which is down right now because I need to add the inventory), and getting ready for our grand opening of our new retail outlet (which is tomorrow), make cupcakes for the opening, and I should be working on our new Spring 2011 line, but I am not.

Instead of working on my TO-DO-LIST, I will tell you about my favorite new gadget, because I would rather think about food right now.

Trent and I lived in Orlando Fl, about 7 yrs ago (while he was going to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute) and while there we fell in LOVE with Cuban sandwich's. I mean obsessed, and we ate them regularly. And it is the one thing that we have been craving lately, and you just can't get them here.

So, we did our research and bought a sandwich press for christmas, so that we could make our own cuban sandwich's. We finally decided on the "Imusa" press.

Can I tell you that this is the best invention ever? And how Trent now makes THE best cuban sandwich's ever! He came up with an amazing pork recipe and let me tell you just how awesome they are. I think he needs to open a Cuban sandwich shop now.....

And not only does it make the best cuban sandwich's, we have used this almost daily. Last night we made lasagna and for the appetizer we took a bag-get (I think that is how it is spelled...you know the long french bread), and pressed fresh mozzarella, fresh pesto sauce and tomatoes in the press. Yummmmm.

And then today, I made the yummiest invention for lunch;

French bread- or a bag-get

Avocado

Dutch cheese (commonly known as Gouda)

Press together and can you say, "YUMMMMMM".

This post really isn't just about food. there really is a point........I am having a little competition;

Organizing my life in 2010

How do your organize a family of 6, with a bit of a shoe addiction?

The first step is to admit you have a problem. So in behalf of my family, I Melissa admit that we have a bit of a shoe addiction. And because of this addition, we have caused disorganization that needs attention asap.

There! Now that we have admitted the problem, how do you fix it?

Keep in mind that each person in our family is suppose to keep shoes in their own closets, however they never end up there. Instead shoes are kicked off by our front door and left to be tripped over. (* see below )

Then child #1 aka "the cleaner" freaks out and tosses the shoes in either in the garage or in our front coat closet. Leaving a HUGE mass of shoes in piles.

Instead of fighting the system, I decided to "go with it" and we created a system to organize our shoes in the garage and front closet.

The front closet is narrow and also houses all of our jackets (did I mention that we also have a bit of a coat problem)? So, Mula's man (aka hubby) came up with this skinny shelf to put the shoes on. It helps keep most of them off the floor, which is the priority.

* please note, none of these are mine, I actually put my shoes away* and note that Mula's man has a Van's obsession.

Thanks to Ikea, Trent was able to build this coat/shoe area in the garage. It works out perfectly and makes me happy. And you know what they say, " A happy wife is a happy life"

Next project...... organizing the laundry room.

Little Threads Foundation

The idea to start a children’s foundation formed in 2009, when a friend of mine, who is a foster mother sent me an email, telling me about a foster child that she just received in her home. The little boy’s feet were black from playing in the street, and the only article of clothing he had on was his diaper.

When we heard the news we went right over to our Knuckleheads warehouse and gathered clothing for the child and rushed it right over.

A month went by and another child was placed in the same friend’s care. This child came wearing raggedy clothing and toeless shoes. I felt compelled to help once again, so I sent over a bag of clothing so the child could start in a new school with nice clothes.

In my later discussions with my friend I learned a lot more about foster care. I learned that when a child is pulled from their home, they are taken quickly because of harmful circumstances and they often come to their new foster homes with nothing. The foster families are then left to try to find the right size clothing, shoes, and diapers within an hours notice. Sometimes calls even come in the middle of the night.

I also found out that the foster families don’t get reimbursed for the items they purchase for the children, and this really shocked me. I realized the importance of helping these foster parents get access to new clothing.

I was particularly moved when the foster mother told me the story of a little girl that was placed with her whose clothing was so old and dirty that she got made fun of at her old school; and she was only in kindergarten!

Later on, I was delighted to hear how this little girl was excited to own something new and pretty, and that someone had bought specially for her. It helped her feel confident and happy, and what an awesome feeling for me. I couldn’t get these two events off my mind. I knew that I had to do something.

In 2009, with the help of family and friends, (including my dear friend who is the foster parent in this story) “Little Threads Foundation” was born.

The first purpose of “Little Threads” is to provide clothing, shoes, blankets and an item of comfort to children in distress who are placed into foster care.

The second purpose is to provide essentials to these wonderful foster families giving care to the children and bringing them into their homes, which is often a financial burden.

Please join us and help with our goal of dressing and caring for foster children in need.

I am so excited! I think this is our best Hula Mula line so far, and I want to give a little sneak peak to ya'll. These are some of my favorite outfits in the line. Fall 2010 is available for pre-orders now, ships to stores in July/August.

My one and only red carpet event

When ever I tell people what I do for a living, they assume my life is so exciting and full of fun. Sure, I get to travel a lot and yes we do meet the occasional celebrity, but for the most part I am sitting at home in my P.J.'s on the computer with a pile of dishes in the sink, and screaming kids in the back ground just like most moms out there.

So, when I have a chance to escape and get away for a fun event, I am so on board.

My Dallas rep (Hollee from Hope's Chest) also reps a line called "Belle Parish", that is designed and owned by actress/model Ali Landry...you know the hot Dorito's girl?

Anyhoo, Hollee decided to put on a fancy red carpet event, bring in the celebrity and get some press. Knuckleheads was one of the sponsors at the event, so I took my daughter Lily with me to dallas to attend the event.

Here I am (in my Betsey Johnson purple dress), and I must be saying something really important.......

What have we been up to lately?....(Besides running a small business and raising our 4 kids)

Because we don't have enough on our plate already, we added remodeling a investment house to our list. Ha ha...I know we are crazy, but lets put it this way.........the property is located on the oregon/washington coast line in Long Beach, WA, with a partial ocean view and fresh ocean breeze, who can resist a vacation/get-a-way home like that??

So, here is our latest update in the guest room, I am totally feeling the 60s vibe with this wall paper, the colors are orange and greys. I can claim credit for picking it out, but hubby put it up and I owe him big time. Matching the pattern was crazy hard!

Here is the newly updated "pirate" room...still have lots to finish in here, but so far the kids seem to like it. ( I am not allowed to make it scary pirate's, only nice pirate's) I found the Peter Pan vintage poster in Orlando, it is an original movie poster dated and everything, it is huge if you didn't notice. And the Treasure Island was an ebay find. We are on the hunt for a old treasure chest and a few more non-scary authentic details.

So, I promised another sneak peak into our 2010 fall line, and here it is;

Isn't she a doll? I actually designed this piece 2 years ago and didn't have a collection that it fit with. I finally put together a fun red, white and black line for our holiday collection, so here it is. Cute eh?

So, Otto has been wrapping presents today, he rushed home from school and spent the afternoon taping, cutting and drawing cards. I already received a hostess cupcake (taken from our pantry), dad received a little dinosaur (that we assume came from the bottom of his toy chest), grandpa got another snack from our pantry and there are about 8 more carefully wrapped gifts under our tree, maybe if your lucky enough to be on Otto's list you will get a little surprise...... and hopefully it is non perishable.

Ohhh, I almost forgot......Have you seen these yet?

We found this at 7-eleven, it is a HUGE 32 oz super sheet of rice crispies treats! I think it is the coolest thing around.

We topped ours with white frosting and took cookie cutters and made fun christmas shapes. It was so easy and so fast. Could I have saved $ and actually made them from scratch? Yes. But you know what? Sometimes I like easy and wow...it was dangerously good with the frosting.

A MUST for this holiday season

We just came back from seeing "A Christmas Carol", in 3D. OMG, it is amazing, seriously amazing.

I absolutely loved it, the kids loved it, and all I can say is watch it in 3D. Don't even waste your time watching normal boring 2D. It is meant to be watched in 3D and it really really is so cool. I wanted to reach out and pluck the nose hairs right off Scrooges face, and shape his eyebrows a bit......

(It might be scary for kids under 5...Otto was fine, but the kid in front of us was totally hysterical).

The 3D glasses were a hit with the kids, look how cute we are!

Seriously, go this week. And don't forget 3D only!

Brrrr, it is cold

I can't believe how cold it has been, I am so not used to this weather. I have the heat cranked and I am still not warm enough. Brrrr! I hate this. At least I don't have to deal with snow, I feel sorry for you who have to scrape your windows in the morning....YUCK!

Ok, so here is this weeks re-cap;

We have been taking Ruby over to my friend Jen's house to play with her (3) three year old girls. And every time I get a phone call that Ruby keeps biting the girls. I am not sure what is going on with that, but she might be on the naughty list......poor Ruby.

So, Trent and I decided to buy ourselves one nice present this year instead of a bunch of random things. I found a super nice mint condition mid century danish table and chairs, on CRAIGS LIST. It was a crazy super good deal, and I love a good vintage find. It fits perfectly in our dining room with my mid century "office" furniture. It has 2 leaf's that came with it and gets really really huge, can't wait to host a dinner party or something.....

Wait! I am hosting the family christmas eve "dinner show" at our house, and call me crazy but I offered to cook a real Indonesian dinner for everyone, about 10 adults and 8 kids. Bami, Nasi Goring, and Croquettes, just to name a few of the yummy dishes. And please wish me luck, I will need it.

So, be sure to check out the new dining set in my "office/dining room" in the pics below. Oh, and please notice and covet my vintage santa mug collection. I have been collecting these my whole marriage and I love getting them out. I am just glad I finally have a place to put them this year.

I am almost done with the new fall 2010 catalog, and unfortunately I do all the work myself, I have been staying up past 2am for the past week working on it. Most of the images are shot (next week I will be shooting more the flats). For some reason, the hardest part is naming each piece. Some times I just name it the first thing that comes into my head, so some of the names are pretty lame. If you come up with any cool names feel free to pass them on.... stay tunes for sneak peaks.

P.S. I have a pretty cool project coming up, that I can't talk about yet but I will let you know soon. I can't wait, it will be a lot of fun and I can't wait to be a part of it.

One of the best things about owning a clothing company is that I can design things that I like for my kids, and my kids get to be the models. And yes they are total posers, the minute they see the camera they start posing. They love taking the catalogs to school and showing their friends, they feel important and gives them a healthy dose of confidence.

This weekend at the coast I photographed my kids in some of the spring line. Is it just me or are my girls cute or what?

P.S. I just noticed that almost the entire new line is polkadots, I didn't even realize it until this minute. I guess I have a thing for dots......

I know the minute the Fed Ex truck pulls into our driveway, mostly because our Mini dachshund freaks out and sprints to the door like a maniac.

I love signing for that package and running to find scissors, ripping that package open and just like Christmas, the surprise that awaits me is almost too much to bare.

They are here! My samples, my creations, my babies, next seasons line! I can feel & touch them, the drawings have come alive, and I am overwhelmed with so much pride. Today I love my Fed Ex driver!
